As part of the continuing work of the PSA in improving our services to members we wish to move away from producing hardcopies of our journals to an online access model.

We are encouraging all members to access our journals digitally through our website in the future, they can be access through our Resources page. We are asking you to make these changes for three key reasons: ease of use, the environment and sustainability. Last year the PSA celebrated our 70th anniversary and we wish to continue to be at the forefront of learned societies, moving toward a fully digital model and improving the benefits we offer to members.

The changes to hard copy journals

Under the current changes, PSA members will be automatically opted out of receiving hardcopies of our four journals BJPIR, Politics, Political Studies and Political Studies Review from 29 January 2021.

This will not affect the February editions of these journals but the editions after. This change likewise does not affect Political Insight.

Following 29 January 2021 all PSA members will be required to log into their membership accounts via the PSA website and update their preferences, actively ticking the box next to each journal if you wish to continue receiving a hard copy.

Key points

  • No PSA member will be prevented from opting back into receiving hard copies.
  • You can continue to read the latest PSA journals online when they become available in the resources section of the website.
  • You will have access to all the PSA’s digital journals regardless of if you have opted to receive hard copies or not.

How to opt in

PSA members may opt into hard copy journals using your membership accounts which are visible via logging in to PSA webpage.

Once you have logged in, members must click Edit my account details and then membership preferences.

Tick boxes next to each journal and members can tick each box next to which journal you would like to be sent a hard copy of. These are then sent to the address we have on file for the member.
